Alcoholism drug Antabuse might also fight cancer

Antabuse, which makes people sick if they drink alcohol and is sometimes prescribed for alcoholics, is also effective in killing cancer cells, according to a study in the journal Nature.

Researchers found that the drug slowed the growth of breast cancer tumors in mice, and that among people who took it over a long period of time, the cancer death rate was 34 percent lower than for people who took it only briefly and then stopped.
