Suboxone is prescribed for people who are addicted to both prescription opioids and heroin, but there’s some indication that it might work better for prescription pill users than for heroin users.
In a recent clinical study of young people taking Suboxone, pill users had an overall better treatment response than heroin users. Heroin users were also more likely to experience depression while on the drug.
The study authors conclude that “young heroin users might require higher doses” of Suboxone to achieve the same effect.
